About the event

Experimenting with sculptural basketry, participants will learn basic basket frame techniques to create a frame arm puppet of a fish, or whatever else your creative minds turn it into! We’ll be using mainly foraged, recycled, upcycled and purchased natural materials to create a fish shape that can be used as an arm puppet to tell stories of conservation and protecting the wild more-than-human species, or whatever else your heart desires! Fins will be made using “crazy weave” and fabric will be used to add a flowing tail and some movement. Come with an idea or an open mind and we’ll create!

Please Note! This workshop is geared toward adults and older teens who can work independently and with interest in basketry and puppetry. Anyone under age 18 must attend with an adult. Bring a sketchbook and pen if you like to document or plan ideas ahead.
